On November 12, 2012, members of the Houston psychiatric community were invited to a scientific presentation by Steven Potkin, M.D., Professor, Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior, University of California, Irvine and Robert R. Sprague Endowed Chair in Brain Imaging at University of California, Irvine. Dr. Potkin is a gifted interactional speaker and has been a leading researcher in the development of many significant psychiatric medications.

Dr. Potkin’s talk was entitled “Managing Adult Patients with Manic or Mixed Bipolar Episodes Associated with Bipolar Disorder or Schizophrenia” and focused in particular on the attributes of Asenapine (Saphris), a relatively new atypical neuroleptic medication which is useful in the management of these conditions.

Dr. Charles Covert, a Houston, Texas psychiatrist, enjoyed the opportunity to participate in the meeting with his staff and to remain current and informed through continuing psychiatric education opportunities. Dr. Covert’s office is conveniently located in the easily accessible Galleria area of Houston, Texas. New appointments are offered within 24 hours to provide timely response to you and your family’s needs.
